I am a BAFTA-winning producer, writer, and editor with a strong background in children’s and educational programming and video.

With over fifteen years’ worth of experience, I have written episodes of BBC Bitesize, written, produced, and ran the creative campaign for CITV’s multi-award winning Share a Story, edited epsiodes of Countdown, and directed a wide range of short-form video, actuality, behind-the-scenes, and other content for broadcast TV and online. This in addition to making probably hundreds of promos and trailers for clients including the BBC, ITV, and Sony.

About

David Heslop is a producer, writer, and editor with over fifteen years’ experience making content for TV and online. He has lead campaigns for major TV brands, produced hundreds of promos and trailers, written, directed, and edited TV programmes, and worked for major broadcasters and small indies.

David is most adept as a scriptwriter, praised for his speed and effeciency as well as his humour and ability to condense complicated topics down for a young audience. This is most recently seen in the many episodes of BBC Bitesize he wrote in 2021. As a producer and writer for CITV’s “Share a Story”, he won a Children’s BAFTA in 2012, and helped guide the feature on to an additional three BAFTAs.

He has also produced campaigns and promos for the likes of CITV, BBC Creative, and Sony; made corporate videos; and edited programmes such as “Countdown”. He is also very experienced at producing panels and seminars for live events such as the Children’s Media Conference, and conducting workshops for children.

As well as his TV work, he has written a play, Dragons, which was staged in 2012 in association with the RSC. He is currently writing his first novel. He lives in Bury with his wife and daughters.
